Wylf is an adults-only dating app. Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) has no place on it, and we build and operate Wylf so that it cannot take hold. These are the standards we hold ourselves to, published so anyone can read them.
Wylf is for adults only
You must be 18 or older to create a Wylf account. A date of birth under 18 is refused at signup and cannot be changed to circumvent it. Before anyone can exchange messages, both people must complete a one-time identity and photo verification in which a live selfie is matched against a government ID. Anyone we find to be under 18 is removed and their account is closed.
What is forbidden
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is absolutely prohibited. So is any sexualisation of a minor, grooming or solicitation of a minor, sharing or requesting sexual content involving anyone under 18, and any attempt to use Wylf to make contact with a minor. This applies to photos, profile text, prompts, Plans, and messages alike. There is no context in which any of it is permitted, and no warning before enforcement.
How we detect it
Every photo uploaded to Wylf is scanned before it can be seen by anyone. Images are checked against known CSAM using hash-matching technology, and separately screened by automated content moderation for sexual and other prohibited content. Photos are held back until those checks complete, and a photo is never published if a check fails to run — the scan fails closed rather than allowing the image through.
How to report a concern
Every profile and conversation in Wylf can be reported from inside the app, including a dedicated option for child safety concerns, and reporting is always free — safety features are never placed behind a purchase. You can also block anyone immediately, and the in-app Safety Centre explains both. If you cannot access the app, write to safety@wylf.ca. Reports involving a minor are treated as the highest priority.
What happens next
A confirmed CSAM match is acted on automatically and immediately: the image is removed so it can never be served, the account is disabled, and a record of the detection is preserved. Reports made by people are reviewed by a human. Accounts involved in the sexual exploitation of a minor are terminated permanently, and we do not restore them on appeal.
Working with authorities
We preserve evidence of detected child sexual abuse material and cooperate with law enforcement and the competent child-protection authorities, and we report as required by the laws that apply to us, including in Canada and Quebec. We do not notify a suspected offender of the specifics of a detection, so that an investigation is not compromised.
